In order to keep a homogeneous appearance and to manage contrasts with overlay layers, I recommend to use mainly monochromatic background images. The best source for backgrounds is photography. Digital Photography — Monochromatic Treatment www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXSEVPxNrS4 If possible, watch this clip in HD 720 p and blow it up to full-screen view. I was surprised by the image quality on YouTube considering namely that the images used have been downsized from an original 4000 x 3000 pixels to 1200 pixels wide and the file size of each picture is max. 100 kb compared to the original 4.65 MB jpeg output from the camera.
