The search term: Publishing Digital Photos on WordPress returns over 19 million results. Before our publication, WordPress and related sites were on top. As you can see from the above shots, all top 30 positions have been grabbed by seminar participants’ author blogs or related websites.

The above is also a nice demonstration of the power of the YORGOO Publishing Model as presented a few years ago and revised recently.

<span id="OnOne_Professional_Photo_Editing_Tools"><h3>OnOne Professional Photo Editing Tools</h3></span>
<p>The above sample shows that editing makes the image heavier! The more filters, masks and brushes we apply the more Kb we ad and the slower the image will load once on the site. Here it is getting interesting: the above image counts 124 Kb as shot (it has just been cropped to 300 pixels wide), then we have added 29 px while editing and in the end reduced the JPEG quality to end up with a final 27 Kb, i.e. 2 Kb less than what we added by editing, amd yet, the image is more dynamix, vibrant and sharper.</p>
<p>In order to use editing tools efficiently, we must acquire some knowledge about the different filters and masks. We need to learn some terminology and we need to learn to translate the desired results into professional lingo, so that we use the appropriate tool to achieve the desired result.</p>
<p>The absence of such knowledge results in a “roulette approach” and therefore to unpredictable results and bloated file sizes.</p>
<p><strong>Publishing Images and Photos with <a href="http://semiomantics.com"  >Semiomantics</a> XO on WordPress</strong></p>
<p>With WordPress 3 many new features became available and <a href="http://semiomantics.com"  >Semiomantics</a> exploits them with the recent XO versions. In as much as images, videos and galleries are concerned, XO provides special post formates which are ideal for Media Publishng.</p>
<p>We will explain the custom formates and how to create a specific media feed stream throughout an XO publishing Network.</p>
<span id="Build_a_Photo_Blog"><h3>Build a Photo Blog</h3></span>
<p>To apply the new skills and knowledge, we will build a photo content management system on XO. To anticipate the work and to make the best use of the time we dispose of, we will start building the Photo Site during the 2 Pre-Seminar calls on Tuesday and Thursday next. During these two sessions we will namely focus on customization and design of the XO to end up with a photo site which will provide multiple media streams to be used on other sites of the network.</p>

<p>The Publisher will decide about targeted audience, market, look, priorities to fine tune then the over all look.</p>
<span id="Niche_Sites_vs._Multi-Category_Sites"><h3>Niche Sites vs. Multi-Category Sites</h3></span>
<p>Niche Sites have a clear advantage: you target a clearly defined audience, you know what the audience expects and you tune in function of such expectations and beyond.</p>
<p>If your site deals with Wellness, Art, News, Sports, Cars and Strip-tease, you address different target keywords. Even if one and the same person can be interested in all your categories, timing will become important:</p>
<p>If your visitor types into Google: Art and he ends up on a site with the look of a Strip-tease place, your first contact may not trigger the desired empathy. If on the other hand it’s time for a strip and your visitors is searching for that on Google an he then ends up on a site with the look of a weight loss site (with all it implies graphically, he may walk away with utmost frustration :-).</p>
<p>You therefore may notice that Multi-Category and Multi-Target sites keep a rather neutral look, may be news paper like, press like or even very minimalist.</p>

<p>Believe it or not: the site content is identical on all three sites, but the look is completely different and will therefore please targets with different expectations. The idea is now to post to the blog every time a new media file is added. The posts will need to link to the corresponding page on Evo2. <p>This above is about as close as I got and I have tried out different settings.<br />

<p>The canm used is a Leica V-Lux-20 with 12 MP on a 1/2.33 Sensor.</p>
<h4>1. Automatic Settings</h4>
<p>With automatic settings, the moon just came back as a white disc on a black background. The cam did not distinguish between the different shades and reliefs on the surface of the moon.</p>
<h4>2. Zoom</h4>
<p>The camera has optical and digital zoom systems as well as an extended optical zoom system.</p>
<p>The camera comes with a 12 x optical zoom and and extended optical zoom up to x 23.4. The extended optical zoom uses only a reduced part of the sensor to produce the picture. The photo can then be enlarged accordingly. The camera also uses an  intelligent zoom system. This is a super resolution technology by which the zoom ratio can be increased by 1.3 times with about no deterioration of the picture quality.</p>
<p>Check out your camera menu, you may find iZoom or something similar there.</p>
<p>Make sure, when you shoot at the moon, that the macro zoom is switched off.</p>
<h4>3. Manual Settings</h4>
<p>In view of the limited zoom range and the small size of the sensor, I put the emphasis on settings where a maximum of quality (detail) is preserved, rather than on speed or zoom (size of the moon in the frame).</p>
<p>To achieve this and to prevent noise, I am a friend of low ISO numbers. Considering the use of a tripod, time is no problem, so if low ISO numbers trigger longer exposure, the tripod will prevent the shake effect.</p>
<p>The camera will consider the moon as a whole at infinite distance; blurs due to the spherical shape are not an issue with my material. However, too low F-stop numbers will increase exposure speed and from what my tests show, it&#8217;s preferable to compromise between aperture and speed.</p>
<p>I have started out with f/11 at 1/100 and I just got a white disc on black background.</p>
<p>The above shot shows a possible compromise:</p>
<p>- Aperture: f/4.9</p>
<p>- Exposure time: 1/250 s</p>
<p>- ISO speed: ISO-80</p>
<p>- Spot metering mode</p>
<p>- Focal length of 49 mm which is the equivalent of 399 mm in 35 mm format</p>
<p>- The program selector was on Aperture Priority.</p>
<p>The best advise is: start with some settings and then play with aperture and shutter speed moving them gradually and then select the best picture.</p>
<h4>Blue Moon Vouliagmeni</h4>
<p>The blue-moon has been achieved by tinting one of yesterday&#8217;s photos blue and by cleaning the whites.</p>
