Custom Widgets for WordPress

How to associate different widgets with different posts or categories or pages, or archives or … We could of course create multiple sidebar models and associate them to different variables such as categories or archives, however, for a recent project we opted for a more flexible solution.

While there are many plug-ins available for the purpose, we have developed a custom solution and coded the function into an XO Child theme. This post shows what post or page editors can achieve with an XO Editors Child Theme. 5 Columns Example For the purpose of the demo I will just insert some dummy content here. The step-by-step walk through will show the merits of the features, namely for less experienced users. Time permitting we will also have a look at some new free WordPress themes and some of the more popular plug-ins and install them. Maintenance: Back-up your database and or website. This post is in line with the earlier tutorial about “How to add a search Box to the WordPress Navigation”. WordPress Functions and Style The procedure is simple: we just need to add the function and style it there after. Add the Date Function The following will work on any well designed WordPress theme.
